Second Tour Thrift Store

The first thrift store on base was known as Bargain Barn and may have started as early as 1971.

The Second Tour was started in 1996 by a group of dedicated spouses who saw the need for a base thrift store. Its name comes from the military expression of serving a back-to- back assignment – a second tour – in the same locale. Although the location has changed over the years, The Tour currently resides in a bungalow generously provided by the base. 722 Sampson Road – Dahlgren, VA 22448 Donated items may be left on the front porch. If there is something of value, please contact one of the co-chairs for a secure drop off.

FREE Military uniforms are available for Active Duty Military only. Uniforms are located on the front porch and can be picked up at any time.

The Dahlgren Officers’ Spouses’ Club sponsors the Second Tour Thrift Store. The Tour runs completely on donations. All proceeds from The Tour are given back to the Dahlgren community through donations to local charities and academic scholarships to spouses and children of service members who have been stationed at NSF Dahlgren.

Because of the dedicated volunteers, over the years, The Tour has provided tens of thousands of dollars for our scholarships and charity efforts. As of 2018, DOSC has awarded over $100,000 to charities and scholarships!
